Immigration Policy: Economic issues
The complex interactions between immigration, temporary workers, businesses, and productivity were explored during the academic conference held on September 27-28, 2024. This event covered essential themes such as the economic and social impacts of immigration on labor markets, challenges and opportunities for temporary workers, implications for businesses in terms of recruitment and talent management, as well as the effects of immigration on productivity and economic growth. Other issues related to the interactions between the labor market and immigration were also explored.
Organized by the Power Corporation of Canada Chair in Labour Relations Dynamics, Compensation and Benefits, and the Jacques-Parizeau Research Chair in Economic Policy, co-organized with the Productivity Partnership and the CIQSS, this conference – held in English – provided a platform for exchange on the most current and relevant topics in the field. Professor Christian Dustmann from University College London (UCL) was welcomed as the keynote speaker. It was a unique opportunity to deepen knowledge, engage with renowned experts, and contribute to discussions on critically important issues.
